Poetry Playspace: Coding mAIdens (2024)

Workshop Facilitator

A creative workshop exploring the intersection of poetry, AI and gendered technology. Participants experimented with coding and creative writing to interrogate how artificial intelligence represents - and misrepresents - women's voices. 

Key elements:

• Hands-on exploration of AI text generation

• Using poetry as prompts to test algorithmic bias

• Creative writing prompts exploring gender and technology

• Critical discussion of bias in large language models

• Spotlight on women in the AI industry, examining bias through an intersectional lens

Worked with LGBTQIA+ communities to educate on Islam and its colonial interpretations, challenge Islamophobia within queer spaces, whilst also creating a safe support space for queer Muslims in the North through regular meet-ups.
